CLIF and the Consumer Information for SCP Programme

Guidelines for Providing Product Sustainability Information. United Nations Environment Programme, 2017.

The UN One Planet network is a global community of practitioners, policymakers and experts, including governments, businesses, civil society, academia and international organisations, that implements the 10-Year Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production and works towards achieving SDG 12: ensuring sustainable patterns of consumption and production. The Consumer Information for SCP Programme targets specifically any tools or systems that seek to guide consumers to make more sustainable choices about goods and services (products), including in their use and end of life phase. WWF Germany is part of the programme’s multi-stakeholder advisory committee (MAC) and during the MAC meeting in Paris (12-13 September 2022) Maja-Catrin Riecher presented the “Climate Impacts of Food” project and took part in the 1st Consumer Information Conference.

One of the main activities of the Consumer Information Programme is the development and testing of the Guidelines for Providing Product Sustainability Information which serve as a global manual on making effective environmental, social and economic claims, to empower and enable consumer choice. Its basic principles will play an important role in the further development of the CLIF-tool.
